Those of you that have been with us since way back in 2010 may remember Ri and I throwing some crazy fun rock and roll dance parties. Tied together by names taken from song titles, posters printed on lined paper and soundtracks of super-fun soulpopcore, these parties were totally part of some kind of series, although there was never any name for whatever this series was.
That's changing this year. Ri and I will again be throwing a monthly party at Kitchener's, this time under the banner of "High Five Records".
Each High Five party will be presented as a compliation record. Themes will vary month to month, but each "compilation" will be made up of songs selected by a team of 5 DJs. For our launch party we're keeping things simple; there's no theme. This debut High Five will simply be made up of Ri and I, plus 3 DJs who will surely be rather reuglar features in the lable's rotating roster. The musical tastes of Commadore 64, Ash and Nathan Scott Phillips fully embody the kind of fun, rock and roll asthetic that High Five hopes to bring dancefloors and we couldn't be more excited to have them spinning records to cut the red ribbon on our new creation.
