JOHNNY FOREIGNER ARE COMING HOME!

Johnny Foreigner are a noisy, fun band of magicians who I've shared many of the best moments of my life with. There was that time they came to South Africa in 2010 and there was that time we toured through The States in a Winnebago and that time we toured Europe and I documented everything and that time we went back to America and I documented nothing and then that time we traveled through the UK earlier this year.

I'm incredibly happy to announce we'll be adding to this list of adventures. Jo Fo are coming back to SA in October, aptly in time for Halloween. In putting the tour together, I've teamed up with my super-pal Henk from Not Bad. We've got a really fantastic set of dates lined up, and everyone's understandably mega-excited.

The tenth episode of Hi5 is around the corner and we've got an extra special party planned for this one!

Griet have invited us to take over their Caravan Stage at this year's Grietfest. We've picked out a great collection of DJs to play said caravan and have drawn up some crazy decor and lighting plans to transform it into "The Cosmic Caravan". Can't wait for this one!

Yo are invited to Hi5 Yo Grapes!

Tonight marks the next episode of Hi5! This will be the 8th episode in this new series and I guess once we get to ten I can't keep calling it new anymore.

For our eight instalment, we have a very firm SMAC favourite, Yo Grapes. I've been in love with this project from the release of his first single, Outside, so finally hosting him at a SMAC event is going to be great. Supporting, we have a brand new solo project called Phosphene. This far, Phos has released two singles and I'm really looking forward to seeing what his live show it like. As always, Plaat Japie and i will be on DJ duty, but will this week also be joined by our dear friend Doctor Khumalo!

Hi5! Live! Make Overs and Black Lung!

For the next episode of Hi5 we've got an extra rock and roll selection of awesome! This week we welcome Cape Town noise-merchant Black Lung, who will be in town on their first tour up North. On top of this we'll be hosting Make overs - a band who's praises I have sung over and over and over again on this blog. The night marks the band's first Joburg show after returning to SA after a highly successful tour of The States - needless to say, the band is sure to be on fire!

Additional to the bands performing, M & A from Make Overs return as KRNGY DJs - spinning a set of vinyl gems they harvested while traveling through The US. Ri and I will be spinning some records ourselves - awesome times are guaranteed!

You are invited: Dune Rats 1st South African Tour!!

Oh man - this is a an exciting one!

There's this pretty fantastic Australian band called Dune Rats. They're pretty new, so this could well be the first time you're hearing about them. And you may ask yourself "WHAT THE HELL?!? WHAT'S A DUNE RAT? DO THEY BITE?!".

If that's the case, I suggest you take a deep breath, calm down and aquatint yourself with the joy of Dune Rats via the following videos:

Pretty swell huh? Now here's the good news: Dune Rats are coming to South Africa!

The cherry on top, for me, was being invited to illustrate the posters for the tour as well!

Another stroke of good luck was that Ri and I are able to host the band for one of their Joburg dates! Next Thursday, the 16th, we'll be happy to have Dune Rats performing at our brand new weekly Kitchener's night, Hi5! Ri and I will both be supporting the band alongside the legendary Doctor Khumalo!
