Win free tickets to Zombie Nation!

I'm MASSIVELY excited about Saturday night.

I'll be at Town Hall, playing an opening set in support of German party legend Zombie Nation. Still can't really believe he's been flown to South Africa, but it really is happening. This wonderful event is happening thanks to Cape Town's Tommy Gun and his "Untamed Youth" nights. Over the past years they've consistently been my favourite regular nights in Cape Town. Now they're making the jump to Joburg, and couldn't be doing it in any more massive fashion.

Being the swell guys they are, Untamed Youth have offered up two single tickets to readers of this blog. To win one, simply leave us a comment with any zombie related content. It could be a link to a pic, video or even your favourite zombie flash game. I'll pick my two favourite entries at the end of work tomorrow and announce the winners. Please include your name for the guestlist and some kind of contact details so I can let you know if you've won!

Good luck zombie fans!

P.S. RSVP here!

You are invited to Christian Tiger School!

I'm very excited to be involved in putting together the first Gauteng performance of Cape Town's Christian Tiger School going down at Kitchener's next Friday! A quick listen to any of the many tracks that the band has released should confirm that they are indeed awesome. In my mind, CTS are really swimming against the stream with their beautiful, rich take on hip hop. I don't think I'm even allowed to call it hip hop, but the fact that it really doesn't fit any with any specific genre is what makes it so damn fresh. I may even be so bold as to call it "fres". For their Jozi debut, The School will be supported by fellow Cape Towner Young Supreme, as well as locals Cam and I. It's gonna be an awesome night!
RSVP here!

Hooray for humans! Tutus are making Mnusic!

In case you've been living in a cave, let me give you some good news:

THE TUTUS ARE BACK!

The band has a brand new full length on the way! They've released the first single and an infomercial that's totally awesomeland. Great job!

Next GIFT single launches!

In the lead up to the April 26th release of their debut LP, Greenisforturbo have just launched a 3rd single from the upcoming "Lunchbox for a Dream". Misdirected was one of my favourite numbers for their live shows, and i'm very happy to invite you to stream the recorded version below:
While I'm still drafting a post with links to all the videos, for now let me direct your attention to this, a recent Rebel Alliance collaboration soundtracked by a bit of this new single.
And in other GIFT news, the band's previous single, the anthemic Dinosaur, has now been made available for free download here!

You are invited: The River.

I'm very excited to be down in Cape Town for this!
Two of my very favourite Pretorian artists, Maaike Bakker and Louis Minnaar are down to host what promises to be one seriously next-level exhibition. It opens tonight and I can't wait to see what these two have magicked-up!

Rebel Alliance 5 in videos!

Two weekend's back we hosted Rebel Alliance 5. Over the past few years, when putting together events, my main focus has heavily been in creating spaces where people team-up to create awesome stuff. In conjunction with Cam's efforts through Turn Your Lights Up High, we've done a bunch of events that I've been very proud of. From the mass cardboard-robot building sessions of Dynamo, to the more recent horror army that brought Monster Hospital to life, I think we've started little sparks that turned into blazing fires, far more massive than anything I'd hoped for. But as awesome as those past nights were, they don't hold a candle to the completely over-the-top super collaboration that was Rebel Alliance 5.

Today I'm very happy to share with you the full visual program of the night. This fifth episode marked the first of the nights where all material screened was made from scratch for Rebel Alliance. These three video represent the combined efforts of no less than 47 different people. Thanks to the collected creative powers of these animators, illustrators, photographers and musicians, I am now very happy to share with you the visual program of Rebel Alliance 5!
P.S. Visit these clips on vimeo for full credits on all projects!
