You are invited! Le Castle Vania in Pretoria!

Next week Saturday I'll be doing visuals for Le Castle Vania! No! Not the 8bit video game with the guy killing things with a whip! The banging DJ from the USA! Discotheque and Griet have teamed up to bring him to our sunny little country. Fittingly the Gauteng show is going down at Pretoria's Hotbox. Beside LCV you'll also be able to dance to hommie Nathan Soctt Phillips, Haezer and Double Adapater. Expect one crazy night!

You are invited! Cyber Punkers Rooftop!

The Cyber punkers are here all the way from Italy! To celebrate Team Dogbox are throwing their first party in Pretoria that won't be going down in the ultra awesome Hotbox. Why would they not throw the party in Preotoria's best venue? BECAUSE THEY HAVE A ROOFTOP!

You are invited! Dogbox 1980!

Tomorrow night I'll be heading through to lovable Pretoria for the city's fifth installment in the the dangerously fun Dogbox series. I'll be doing visuals on the night - the first time time a Dogbox is featuring a VJ on one of it's lineups. The DJ lineup will feature the brutal Haezer, my main man Matt Suttner, the deubt of Peter Pan and a head to head battle between Dogbox head honchos Moe Joe and Dr Khumalo. Woo!

Link Highlight: Griet

For this episode of Link Highlight I really can't fan out like I usually do.

The reason I can't rave over Griet like I would with any site this blog links to, is because they actually represent me, or rather my DJ alter ego, Sassquatch

Along with having the Sass on their books, Griet also manage a rather badass gang of some of my favourite electronic/ dance acts in the country.
Mr Sakitumi

Besides representing this formidable mob of dancefloor-freakout-instigators, Griet have been organising a huge percentage of the most exciting parties in the year and a bit since they started up. Organising one off events and national tours for their acts, Griet have put together some of my most memorable nights of the past few years.

Dogbox revived the too long dead Pretoria underground dance dance scene. Recently the series broke out of the capital, throwing parties in Joburg and Stellenbosch. Dynamo is a series of robot themed parties with a heavy emphasis on collaboration between creatives on lo-fi sci-fi decor and visuals. 2 weekends back Griet organised one of the 3 stages at the Cape Town Ramfest. Taking control of the dance stage, Griet provided the already awesome festival with a whole new dimension of fun. So (without fanning out too much over my own management and close friends) I think it's pretty safe to say Griet is one of the most exciting forces behind awesome music and unique parties in the country right now.

The end.

Meet Moitse and Ndax

Moitse and Ndax are brothers. Brothers who not only share some brotherly love, but also a love for good live music, rocking dancefloors and documenting both.

Along with this kid...

... who goes by the name "Deena", Moitse and Ndax used to run a blog called "This is not an Exit JHB". While it lasted, This is not and Exit was hands down the coolest online representation of Gauteng nightlife, awesomely written with great photos that really captured the spirit of the nights the blog's posts were dedicated to.

This is not an Exit sadly didn't last too long (less than 5 months to be exact) and made their lost post in December 08. This didn't stop our intrepid brothers, who were still seen, cameras in hand, every time something cool was going down.

Chatting to Ndax at this year's Oppikoppi, I asked him what they were doing with all the photos and videos they'd been shooting since the blog fell silent. He said they'd kinda just been sitting on them. I said he should post some stuff up on So Many Animal Calls. He was keen. We all dragged our feet for a few months...

Fast forward to now, and I'm proud to present to you Ndax's first Animal Calls; some photos from "The Humans are Dead"!
Video of the night, by Moitse on the way!
