Rebel Alliance is all about one thing: breaking the rules. With that in mind, we're breaking our own.

For this month's installment of Rebel Alliance, we're breaking away from having a live band in the Bioscope. instead, we're proud to present to you 3 mini-sets from 3 of the ciy's most wild VJs. Drawing inspiration from their favourite TV-shows, these VJs will each perform a 15 minute power set, soundtracked by a pre-recorded mix by a DJ friend. Prepare your optic receptors for visual bliss from my minds of:

Lindi Goosen, Patrick Dinneen, Awewolves, Phil Davies, Doktrine, Matt McFarlane, Stuart Coutts, Karien Goosen, PJ Kotze, Alex van Rensburg, Matt Suttner and other purveyors of fine bite-sized weirdness!

The Frown: Metallic Kiss

Last weekend we threw a wee launch party to premier the latest music video by The Frown. And here it is!



It's been released as a product of our animation company Cool Your Jets. That said, I sadly can not take an ounce of credit for this one, since the entire thing was animated by the overly brilliant Matt McFarlane. BUT the great news is all 3 Jets will soon be combining our creative-powers on a full trilogy of narrative music videos for the band! This forth-coming intergalactic adventure is also been produced by James Carrol, who worked with us on our video for Vampire9000 and will be shot by Justin McGee, the same wild stallion that shot the above awesomeness!

And in other Frown news; my creative-genius girlfriend Nanna has drawn a poster for the band, and it is like totally the one of the most awesome things my eyeballs have ever seen:

 This Saturday we're planning something pretty special;

Metalic Kiss is a party centered around the release of a brand new video by The Frown. Animated by Cool Your Jets wind-surfing legend Matt McFarlane, it's a pretty fresh, bizzaro creature that we'll be screening at Mash on Saturday.

On either side of that we'll have a whole bunch of awesome going down; The Frown will of course be performing as well as SMAC favourites Vampire9000 and Yo Grapes. Between the live acts there will also be DJ antics from Casioheart, Duchess, DJ Grace Jones and your friendly neighborhood Sassquatch.

I can't wait for this!

This Friday Eyes Like Mirrors will be making our return to Pretoria! It's under rather great circumstances, celebrating the launch of PostBox Online, and joining a pretty stellar lineup. What's more, the visuals for our set will be something pretty damn special. We'll have multiple projectors running, with my usual animations going up alongside those of the night's resident VJ; Flux. Should be something really special and different.

I recently had the privilege of playing one highly enjoyable set at the Johannesburg Zombie Nation party. It was a really great night, but the best bit is that it was only the beginning for Untamed Youth in Jozi!

The highly-awesome regular Cape Town night is also becoming a regular Joburg thing, and I'm very happy to say I'll be playing their debut night at Great Dane this Saturday. They've assembled a great lineup for the night and I'm realy looking forward to being a part of it!
